The Geotechnical Engineer will have the opportunity to join a stable, well respected firm while working on a variety of projects that also include some field work. Regional travel is likely to be a part of the position, and possibly some occasional overtime, evening and/or weekend work.

Main Duties:

Geotechnical oversight and logging of geotechnical explorations such as: borings, test pits, cone penetration, etc.

Perform engineering analysis such as: short and long-term settlement estimates, bearing capacity, pile design (compression, tension, and lateral capacity of single piles and pile groups), mat foundation design, liquefaction assessment, site class determination, load test evaluation, interpretation of instrumentation data, pavement design, slope stability, and support of excavation design

Provide field oversight for Special Inspection during construction for subgrade inspection, controlled filling and in-place density testing, deep foundation installation (driven/drilled piles)

Prepare detailed geotechnical reports; analysis of geotechnical samples; field testing of soils; design support

Complete office engineering tasks including designs, drafting, and report preparation.

Develop laboratory and field testing programs.


B.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, or Related Engineering Degree; advanced degree a huge plus

3- 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience with broad knowledge and strong technical skills in geotechnical design

EIT certification, with desire to progress to P.E. within reasonable timeframe

Knowledge of basic software tools including Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD

Additional Software Knowledge such as: WEAP, Slide, gINT, APile, LPile, All Pile, GRL, PLAXIS, Shake 2000.
