Operations Site Manager
DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Manager of on-site heavy equipment and screening operations contract work at an Iron and Steel Manufacturing plant in the New Orleans, LA area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides overall strategic leadership and oversight for all activities directly related to processing, transportation, and handling of iron ore, direct reduced iron, and other products to ensure the required materials are efficiently and safely produced within budgetary limits. Develops and executes intermediate and long term strategies that support the growth of the operation.
  • Employs maintenance, training, processing, and other operations programs to support the company’s mission.
  • Evaluates existing policies and procedures to identify and resolve issues needing improvement.
  • Meets operations objectives by forecasting requirements, executing and planning scheduling, and reviewing other performance data; analyzing variances and initiating corrective action.
  • Ensures that safety, health and environmental legal/company standards are in compliance while emphasizing safety as a top priority.
  • Oversees equipment maintenance programs and training programs.
  • Enforces performance metrics and assesses the performance of the site and contract work; reviews progress to ensure achievement of targets; develops strategies for increasing efficiency.
  • Updates knowledge and skills to handle new complexities, challenges, and responsibilities (i.e. seeking out training, learning from experience, researching best practices).
  • Manages EH&S to ensure all members of the team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees.
  • Performs other directly related appropriate duties and assumes accountabilities as delegated.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Management, Operations or other related field. 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a key operations leadership/management role.
  • Must have working knowledge of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations or aggregate, slag, steel mill or concrete operations. 
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Heavy equipment operators experience and mechanical aptitude is a plus.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
 
  • May be required to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position works with moderate exposure to hazards associated with operating heavy machinery, and working in a processing or manufacturing environment.
