The Environmental Scientist is responsible for providing advanced technical support in the development/completion of assigned environmental and regulatory projects in both an office and field environment. 

Some of the main responsibilities for this position include:

Conducting biological resource studies including wildlife habitat assessments, listed threatened and endangered species assessments, native and invasive plant vegetation surveys, and wetland mitigation monitoring

Identifying stream impacts and mitigation requirements under operating procedures adopted by southern and southeastern Districts of the US Army Corps of Engineers

Identifying jurisdictional wetlands, classification and delineation of wetlands and streams, and determining mitigation requirements to support the environmental permitting of infrastructure projects

Preparing CWA Section 404 and 401 permit applications; Securing NPDES permit coverage and preparing environmental plans (SWPPP, SPCC, etc.)

Coordinating with state and federal resource agencies related to historic and natural resources

Conducting permit-related site inspections and collecting environmental samples from a variety of media

Preparing a variety of technical documents


B.S. in Biology, Forestry, Fisheries, Wildlife Biology, Ecology, or closely related field

3-5 years minimum of experience in conducting biological surveys which includes:  Wetland delineations, sensitive species surveys, and impact assessments

3 years minimum of Environmental consulting experience

Experience in preparing U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Section 10/404 permit applications and a thorough knowledge of Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Coastal Management Division Regulations

Demonstrated communication and organizational skills
